The Tavistock development company and TGEY presented planning/construction updates for Lake Nona in a recent community meeting.

The Lake Nona Disney Campus

A major piece of news was the confirmation of the construction of the new Disney office space. A work hub for the 2,000 Disney employees slated to move from California to Lake Nona, this campus will comprise an 8-story facility located at 13410 Veterans Way. It will straddle the acreage between Central Florida Greenway and Lake Nona Blvd. Word is that the project will cost $35-40 million, and despite current supply chain delays, Turner Construction plans to complete the campus in November 2022.

New Parks and Schools

Besides the new Disney office installation, plans were revealed for a new community park plus another school site next to Laureate Park. The school site will hold OCPS Middle School (2024) and OCPS Elementary School (2026).

More academic sites are on the drawing board: OCPS High School (2029) and the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico.

Mobility Innovations Continue

The Lake Nona Vertiport, a project undertaken in cooperation with Tavistock, the city of Orlando, and German aerospace company Lilium GmbH, will provide accessible air transportation (5-passenger jets) between Florida cities.
